Sponsorship Packages Outline

Ride the Bellarine for SIDS is a charity bike ride raising money for Red Nose who use these funds to support grieving parents and families who have lost an infant to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Still Birth. Why Red Nose you are asking? The reason for this charity event is a friend of mine lost his daughter to SIDS in 2019. Lara was the same age as my daughter, and this really hit home. This was something I needed to put together to help support other families going through the most horrendous loss imaginable.

Red Nose have outline that 2,107 babies are stillborn, whilst 742 babies die before they turn one month old. 87 babies a year are passing away from Sudden Infant Death and fatal sleeping accidents. These numbers are too high, and money is needed to support Red Nose in education programs as well as supporting these grieving families. If you are interested in more information on these statistics, please see the Red Nose website at rednose.org.au.

The name of the charity, Ride the Bellarine for SIDS, is this as the ride is held annually in the Bellarine Peninsula, just over an hour out of Melbourne. The ride starts and finishes at the Ocean Grove Surf Club, and the riders pass through Geelong, Drysdale, Portarlington, St Leonards, Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff during the 108km ride. All of these areas are tourist destinations, Ocean Grove has a surf beach, Point Lonsdale has the lighthouse whilst Queenscliff is one of the ports for the ferry between Sorento and Queenscliff. The Bellarine Peninsula has just over 55,000 residents and this increases over the summer period to over 110,000 people.

The Bellarine Peninsula was selected as a riding course due to its beautiful landscape, its access to accommodation as well as its easy to follow riding paths. The area is well known for people getting out and keeping active and this was also key in selecting a place to hold this event. Cadel Evans, Australia’s only Tour de France winner also resides from Barwon Heads in the Peninsula.

In 2022 we held our inaugural Ride the Bellarine for SIDS event. We had 10 riders complete the 108km ride with a goal of raising $5000 for Red Nose. We were lucky to gain sponsorship from many companies, and we were blown away with raising $26,514 throughout our campaign for Red Nose. This tally, was the largest fundraising effort by a team within Australia for Red Nose, and we are delighted to hold that title in our first year.

In 2023, we are excited about the challenges that lay ahead to grow our event, as well as again support Red Nose through fundraising a large amount of funds. We do need support to help us break our 2022 tally though, and we are looking for sponsorships to come on board and build this event.

I have attached our sponsors packages, and hope that you as a company would like to get involved in this cause to support grieving families through Red Nose’s support. Below is a table of how Red Nose will also support your business if you become sponsors of our ride.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding your opportunity to get involved with Ride the Bellarine for SIDS in 2023.

Regards,

Peter Herrick
